Surrounded by native live oaks and greenbelt on three sides, we excavated into the hillside for a very complex concrete structure with multiple horizontal and vertical planes. The building's exterior is clad in native stone, which contrasts beautifully with large expanses of windows. The structure symbolizes a butterfly’s wing, catching rain and channeling it into hidden cisterns for landscape irrigation. The home also features a geothermal well-point system nestled into and around the landscape, allowing extremely efficient and quiet air conditioning.
