Construction of this Immigration and Customs Enforcement processing facility included site development, construction of a parking garage with secured access, and outdoor recreation areas. The two-story main multi-functional building houses 1,100 inmate beds and is designed to meet ICC-500 requirements for up to a 160-mph wind speed generated by a hurricane.
The facility includes male and female-segregated cell units, sixteen dormitory units, five elevators, dining areas, a kitchen, large walk-in coolers, freezers, dry storage rooms, medical, dental, and pharmacy areas, intake/removal processing stations, staff training rooms, command center, muster room, large office areas, and central electrical/mechanical room. In addition, multiple remote mechanical and electrical rooms are strategically located throughout the facility, including security control rooms.
All security electronics, detention, and electrical systems are tied into the emergency backup generator, which runs all systems 100% continuously for 72 hours before refueling is required. Recreational areas include soccer fields with walking tracks, handball courts, covered pavilions with tables, and outdoor restrooms.
